Child and Spousal Support
Are you receiving too little child support? Are you paying too much child support? What is the effect if the supported party remarries and his or her new spouse has a high income? Can a grandmother who provides daycare request payment for providing the care?
Child and spousal support have an enormous effect, on both parties, for 18 or more years. You need an attorney who regularly represents clients in support hearings and knows the tax factors to argue for child support, and the equitable factors to argue for your spousal support hearing.
How much time each party has custody of the child greatly affects child support. Often in court the parties disagree about how much time each party has custody. My office can help you gather evidence to document what the time share really is.
If the other party is not working or working reduced hours our office may obtain "seek work" orders from the court. And, our office may be able to get the court to "impute" wages to a nonworking spouse to increase the support you receive.
Our office can arrange wage garnishes. And we can bring hearings for contempt for failure to pay support.
